How Our Ground Screw Installation Service Works

From your first enquiry to a ready-to-build foundation — a clear, straightforward process with no complications.

The Process

Five Steps From Enquiry to Built Foundation

1
Step One

Send Us Your Plans or Dimensions

All we need to get started is a set of dimensions or a plan drawing for your garden room. You don't need anything formal — even a rough sketch or a note of the length and width is enough to get an accurate quote.

If you have full architectural drawings, even better. We'll work out the exact screw layout — including positions, spacing and quantity — based on your garden room's footprint and the manufacturer's specification.

You can send plans via email to sales@grounddown.co.uk or call us on 07840 092397 and we'll take the details over the phone.

Step Two

We'll Advise and Quote

We'll come back to you with a clear, itemised quote for supply and installation — covering the number of ground screws, the installation visit and any additional fixings or hardware required.

If there's anything to clarify about your site or layout, we'll ask up front. No surprises on the day.

We can usually provide a quote within 1 working day of receiving your plans or dimensions.

Fixed Price. No Hidden Costs.

The price we quote is the price you pay. We don't add extras after the installation or charge for access to your garden.

Step Three

Book Your Installation Date

Once you're happy with the quote, we'll agree an installation date that fits your project schedule. We work with your timeline — whether you need us next week or in three months.

We can usually accommodate requests within a reasonable lead time. For urgent projects, call us directly and we'll do our best to fit you in quickly.

Step Four

We Arrive and Install

On your agreed date, our team arrives with all necessary equipment including our specialist ground screw installation machinery. We mark out the screw positions, install each screw to the correct depth and level, and check everything before we leave.

We work cleanly and leave the site tidy. No mess, no damage to the surrounding garden, no excavated soil to deal with.

Typically half a day to a full day

Most garden room installations take between 2–6 hours depending on size and number of screws.

Installed level and square

Every screw is installed to exact levels. We check and confirm before leaving the site.

Clean site, clean garden

No excavation spoil. We leave the garden in the condition we found it — or better.

Step Five

Build the Same Day

Your foundations are ready immediately. There's no cure time to wait for, no fragile concrete to protect and no delays to your project. Your garden room installation can start the same day we finish.

This is one of the biggest practical advantages of ground screws over concrete for garden room projects — keeping the whole build schedule on track.

Ready to Build — Immediately

No waiting. Ground screw foundations are load-bearing the moment they're installed. Your garden room build can start as soon as we leave.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What information do I need to provide?

Just the dimensions of your garden room footprint — length and width. If you have plans, even better. We'll work out everything else from there.

How long does installation take?

Most garden room foundations are installed within half a day to a full day depending on size and screw count. We'll give you a realistic estimate when we quote.

Can I build on the foundation the same day?

Yes. Ground screws are load-bearing immediately. There's no cure time. Your garden room installation can begin as soon as we leave.

Do you work on all ground types?

Our screws are suitable for all standard ground conditions found in South East England gardens — including clay, loam and sandy soils. For most garden room foundations we use our 1.25m screws; where conditions or structures call for it we also carry 1m, 1.5m and 2m lengths. If you have an unusual ground condition, get in touch and we'll advise.

Do you work with all garden room suppliers?

Yes. Our ground screw system is compatible with garden rooms from any manufacturer or installer. We work across all sizes, styles and designs.

Do you cover my area?

We cover South East England from our base in Surrey — including Surrey, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire and surrounding areas. See our full coverage area or give us a call.

Can I just order the screws without installation?

Yes — we offer supply only for trade customers and experienced installers. However, our primary and recommended service is supply and installation together.
